Recently the prototype Mercedes-Benz Vito electric car has been launched at San Sebastian last week. The unveiling is organized by the EU Competitiveness Council. Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, spoke in regards about the maintenance of EVs in his capacity as current president of the ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association). In this event, they also discussed some issues relating to the future of the product and its economic practicality.
From Mercedez-Benz Vito recent commercial van that it will be needed to be “start of a new era in local, zero-emission mobility in the van sector” this is what they want to come out with this trial vehicle. With the R&D activities that focused on three key aspects:
• optimising combustion engines
• boosting efficiency via custom hybrid components and
• emission-free vehicle operation deploying batteries and fuel cells.
There will be more than 100 examples of the Vito EV that will be going to send out to almost 20 customers, car marketplace, dealers and even the public institutions and with up to 2,000 unit to follow up.
