Electric cars have been around even before the development of cars with internal combustion engines. The first was built around 1832. These deliver a high torque at a low revolution but have lower top speeds. Although this has greatly improved in more recent models, with top speeds reaching up to 130 mph or (210 km/h).
A hybrid vehicle uses two or more power sources to move the car. This is usually called a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), which combines both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine.
